OK, I hate to admit this, but sometimes I’m just so addicted to google (which is not good, I know…).

Not long ago, google released a new tool called “Fastflip” which essentially lets users to read news in a more intuitive way (literally just like flip through it which I like it a lot!). I discovered this new tool the other day, and absolutely fall in love with this thingy.

Recently, we’ve been discussed topics about how print business will survive in the “internet world” (aka people-get-content-for-free). It’s not like I am in the print business or something. Just that the instructor himseld happened to work at Conde Nast (which also happened to close down 4 major magazines two weeks ago). It’s a tough business indeed.

What does Fastflip have to do with print business? It (or Google) essentially provides another/easier way for audience to consume more news/content FOR FREE (well, mostly). I’m sure there are thousand other ways to consume content and Fastflip is not the only innovative way to do so. However, it again proves that the print business gets more difficult (unless you figure out an innovative way to push you content). Personally, I still have magazine subscrptions (2 actually. it costs less than $10 a year. com’on people!), and I love the physical ownership of the magazine.

I wonder if google charges on a CPM basis for the Fastflip tool though.

You can fake your resume, your selling points, anything superficial.

But you can’t fake passion, period.

It’s not like if you build it, people will come.

One thing I learned from Digital Marketing class. So true.

But how?

I’m experimenting these days.

Ciao for Now is a little cozy bakery/cafe near my place. On a Saturday morning, I went there to get some breakfast. The ambiance was good. However, it’s not necessarily your study/read type of cafe but it’s great for sit down and catch up with friends.

Oh, and how I like their cute name “Ciao for Now.” =D

I need to admit that this blog is lousily organized. Or it’s organized in a way that it looks messy. I am trying to come up plan to organize the site and further integrate this with my another blog. Not that I am making money out of this. Just that this is something I am passionate about. (in this case, writing and posting photos or making my blogs look more appealing)

Way to go.

It’s been a long while since the last time I posted an entry here. I hate saying this every time I post something here, but it seems to be the fact. Summer went by a lot faster than I could imagine. I finally enter into the second year of my graduate study. Love the digital marketing even more than ever. Life’s been nothing more than intern and school. I am also in the process of trandforming my blog works into one platform (hope I’ll be able to integrate into one site). There’s so much I wanna do but too little time as always.

Especially when you mention that you are from Taiwan, they talk to you with all due respect. Ya, Taiwan! Not Thailand or China, it’s Taiwan! They may or may not have the understanding on any of the political issues between Taiwan and China, but they can certainly differentiate Taiwan from China (well, maybe based on the quality of their gadgets or whatsoever).

Why? I guess it’s probably because most of their gadgets are either made or assembled in Taiwan. This thought came to me after my “Operation and Customer Service” class, which consists of 7 members (one happened to be a Mac groupie/geek) and the instructor is certainly a geek (at least he claimed to be one of them). Anyways, just a little thought and I think this class is going to be interesting.

I wasn’t aware of the concept of pop-up stores until I moved to NYC. It seems like New Yorkers (or at least those marketing people) are just amazed by the idea of pop-up stores. I’ve probably been to at least 4 or 5 pop-up stores ever since I moved into the city. For instance, I’ve been to Colette x Gap on fifth Ave., and Madewell (which is a J Crew brand for youngster) on Broadway. And now here is another one–Wired Store of the Wired magazine. Not that I am following the Wired magazine all the time (which to be honest, I am not at all), but this store is literally opened right across the street from where I intern at. It’s rather difficult for me to avoid it.

So, here comes November.  Time went as fast as you could ever notice.  There are non-stop group project meeting and brainstorming line-up in this sweet November.

To be honest, I start to like grad school a little bit now.  I feel I can dedicate myself to all those projects and stuff.  After all, those are just case studies… However, something that really frustrated me is that the group work.  Not that I am a free-rider or slacker or anything, but there’s something wrong about communication within us.  I wish I could solve the problem, at least being a middle-person to form a bridge between the broken two parts.  We’ll see, hope things will turn out well.

Also, on that wonderful afternoon, when I was on my way home, I stopped by a bagel place to feed my starving stomach.  And, guess what happened?  I saw Chris Noth (a.k.a. Mr. Big in Sex and the City) who sat right next to the door (it’s a rather small place, so you almost can’t avoid but notice him sitting over there).  Well, my first reaction was like…wow…are you kidding me?   There is a real person sitting there and reading Voice or whatever random publication that is.  Of course I didn’t do anything, just act cool and pretend nothing happened.  (although I have camera with me all the time, that does not make me spontaneously a paparazzi/stalker, thank god)  What’s funny is that when he left the place, he forgot his suitcase.  As I was on my way home, I saw him again running back to get his suitcase. Then, I got the chance to ask him…you got your suitcase?  He replied in sorta embarrassed expression and said “yeah,” then ran to catch a cab.    I guess this is one of those New York experience that you might not be able to get elsewhere.

Then, there will come the Turkey Holiday when I will head back to Madison.  I am so looking forward to the trip=D
